Beontag Announces Launch of Phenol-Free Direct Thermal Papers to the US market
Beontag’s innovative and versatile TireTag to be incorporated into millions of new Kumho commercial, passenger and racing car tires for complete traceability and sustainability
Beontag, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of self-adhesives and smart tags such as RFID, NFC and BLE, has announced a new partnership with one of Asia’s leading tire manufacturers, Kumho Tire. The collaboration will see Beontag’s TireTag RFID technology incorporated into new Kumho tires for commercial and consumer vehicles. Beontag and Kumho’s RFID-enabled tires provide the ability to trace the entire life cycle of a tire, from its origin in one of Kumho Tire’s manufacturing facilities worldwide, all the way through to disposal and recycling. This partnership was born through the recognition of Beontag’s strategic innovation in RFID technology, driving enhanced supply, sustainability, and competitive pricing.
Kumho Tire is a globally recognized leader in the tire manufacturing industry, and one of South Korea’s premier producers of high performance and innovative tires for a range of vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), passenger cars, commercial trucks, and racing vehicles. Kumho Tire’s commitment to the highest industrial standards, combined with a strong commitment to advanced technology, sustainability, and safety, aligns perfectly with Beontag’s core principles.
After years of R&D development and months of reliability tests by Beontag and Kumho Tire, the new connected tire is exceptionally durable and reliable, capable of withstanding high temperatures and pressures through years of heavy use.
Additionally, the traceability of the new TireTag-enabled tires will comply with the upcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulations (ESPR), which mandates the need for Digital Product Passports (DPPs) and will come into effect for tires from 2028-2030.
Speaking about the partnership with Kumho Tire, Thiago Horta, Beontag’s Global VP of Digital Transformation, said: “We are extremely proud to share what we have achieved in our partnership with Kumho Tire. Through rigorous testing we have worked hard to develop the necessary technology and durability capabilities in these RFID-enabled tires, I look forward to continuing this journey with Kumho tire for years to come”
Speaking about the new tire technology, Jihon Park, Assistant Manager with Kumho Tire, said, “Kumho Tire has been producing RFID-enabled tires since 2013. Beontag’s technical expertise and collaborative approach were instrumental in helping us meet our rigorous standards and enhance our technology. We look forward to delivering even greater quality and reliability to our customers around the world.”
